Book Club

 Hello!

So many things have changed since the pandemic started. One of the small changes in my life is that our little book club has to be done by zoom. It's not the same as catching up with my friends irl but it has to do for now.

The challenge this month at More Than Words is to be inspired by the word "Books" and to use use Book Pages on your project. I went one step further and created my art journal page in a book!

I have to fess up that our 'book club' might actually be more of a get together with friends than a real book club!

Waiting for the Sun

 Hello again!

It's winter here now and the days have been cold, windy and ... well ... wintry! We're back in lockdown too and I'm really missing those lovely walks we did during the first lockdown when the weather was good.

With this in mind, I was inspired to create this tag for the new More Than Words Mini Challenge. The word to use on your card, tag, ATC or postcard is SUN.

Chill Out!

Welcome back!

The new challenge this month at More Than Words is to be inspired by the Chill Out theme and to use a super-cool sketch from Heikes Augenblick.

I took the Chill Out theme literally and scrapped about how we are spending this winter at home due to covid-19 restrictions.

Rather than go with snowy, cold colours, I chose to use warm, rich colours to add that snuggle-up feeling to the page.

I already had that large "2-gether" title but I wanted to add the Chill Out words. My eyes fell on the sketch I had printed to follow for this challenge. The More Than Words challenge board had a perfect copy of the title already made. I just cut it out and added it to my page!

I know butterflies aren't usually relevant for a page about winter but they looked good and the rich colours were perfect ;)

I loved using Heike's fun sketch. I especially loved the stitching part. No surprises there - I love messy stitching on my pages!

Feeling Krafty

Hello! I'm a bit excited about the start of August - it's the beginning of the end of winter! Woohoo!

Of course, a new month means a new challenge at Kraft+. The challenge this month is to use orange, teal and copper! Now that's an interesting combo! I originally had all sorts of exotic ideas around using geli prints in those colours but I somehow got sidetracked when I found a scrap of gorgeous teal paper. I then realised I had no full sheets of kraft left which is a bit of a problem in a kraft-based challenge! I solved the problem by using lots of patterned kraft paper around my photo.

I painted my title with copper paint.

 I also used a very cool copper-coloured fibre that I've been hoarding for years.

The bar code is an airport baggage code from the trip.

I love creating my journalling with random words taken from various sources.

Hello! Firstly, my apologies again to those of you that comtinue to check in to my blog when I haven't been able to do the same back to you. I've just been super-busy. More on that later.......

The new Mini Challenge is up at More Than Words and the challenge is to use the word "Miss" on your card, tag, ATC or postcard.

Here's my tag.

I was thinking about how to use the word "Miss" when an old saying popped into my head. We used to use the "Little Miss Pink" saying (see start of this post) when I was very little to choose who would be "he" in chasey or hidey (hide-and-seek). Each person would put one foot into a circle and one person would say this Little Miss Pink saying, tapping on each foot as they spoke. A number would be chosen and that number would be counted after the saying. Whoever's foot was the last one counted would go "he". It was so long ago I'm surprised I can still remember this!

Did anyone else do this or was this just a thing at my primary school?

Shakespeare

Welcome back! Have you seen the challenge at Kraft + this month? The challenge is to be inspired by Shakespeare. Ooohhh, now that one's got you thinking, hasn't it?

The first thing that came to my mind was the famous Romeo quote. I remembered I had a photo of my daughter on a hotel balcony and I could just picture her saying "Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?"

I added lots of balcony-themed images like windows, doors and flowers.

Keeping it all One Colour

Hello again. The new challenge has just been revealed at More Than Words. You have to be inspired by the word "Goodbye" and use a Monochromatic colour scheme on your project. I said "Goodbye" to autumn and used a range of rich browns on my art journal page.

There are heaps of different layers on the background. I hand drew some leaves too which I thought were pretty cool!
