Retro Love!

Hello again! Have you seen the new Mini Challenge at More Than Words yet? The word to use on your mini project is ADORE.

I'm having a crush on our new Limited Editions at ArtStacks so I used one of the retro ladies in The Dressmaker stack to make this tag:

Isn't she fabulous? I really love the fashions of the 50's and 60's.

I layered up the background with dressmakers' tissue, also from The Dressmaker stack, plus tissue flowers from the Anemones & Friends stack. The Swinging Sixties wording is made with Letraset letters that are so old they might be from the sixties too - lol!

I hope you can join us this month! You can find the challenge here.

Happy scrappin'!

Always Smile.....

Ooohh, have Kraft+ got an amazing challenge for you this month! You need to be inspired by Kitty McCall. Don't stress if you haven't heard of her - neither had I! I had to google her and I became intrigued by the way she layers leaves so I decided to give that a go.

Here's the end result.

To make my Kitty McCall paper, I made some simple stencils then layered up a mix of leaves using freehand painting, stencilling and paper-piecing. I've got a bit to learn about this style (and about how to deal with paints that have dried up since I last used them!) but I really love the bright, busy result.

When I made the paper design, I didn't have a photo in mind, which in unusual for me. When I found the pic of us in masks, and mine was floral, I just had to use it. It got me thinking about the fact that we can't see facial expresssions when we wear masks so I made up the quote "Always smile, even if nobody can tell". I think it's so appropraite for our times!

I hope you get inspired by this challenge and join us. You can find the details here.

Happy scrappin'!

It's February already and we have an awesome new challenge at More Than Words. February is the month of love so the challenge is to be inspired by the word ROMANCE and to use ROSE (either the flower or the colour) on your project.

I immediately thought of the Roses canvas paper from the ArtStacks 'The Homemaker' stack. I cut a couple of circles from it and made this:

My background is a very old K & Co paper. I still love these! I cut circles from the dressmaker's paper and the Roses canvas paper, both from The Dressmaker stack, stitched around the edges and embellished with bits from my stash.

I hope you can join in the challenge this month. You can find more details here.
Happy scrappin'!
