Art Journalling

Hello again!

I've had more time to create lately and I've enjoyed playing around with art journalling. I made this one for the April challenge at Scrapping Clearly.

The background uses a fab technique by Lisa Oxley. She's the queen of art journalling and colour in my eyes. You can find her amazing work here.

My journalling says, "Lovin' sharing lockdown with you...."

Our daughter currently has pink hair so I coloured the black and white stylised photo.

I seem to gravitate towards this stencil so much when I art journal. And it's always gold! From memory it's a Crafters Workshop one. I love these die-cut butterflies too.

Stay safe everyone.

Happy scrappin'!

It's all Black and White

Hello again. How are you holding up in isolation? As much as I miss catching up with friends and going places, I must confess I'm getting some great creative time in!

I thought I'd try another one of the challenges over at ScrappingClearly Virtual Cyber Crop The challenge is to use black and white. I found the total lack of other colour quite challenging, but that's what challenges are for!

On one of our many walks we've been doing as a family, we walked through part of the area the big Scotsburn fire burnt through a few years ago. The trees are mostly growing back, which is wonderful to see. My daughter loved peering up at the enormous trees above her. Compared to the trees, she's only a tiny figure in the photo so I added a frame around her to highlight her.

I added lots of stamping, stencilling and painting to add impact to the page. I cut the feathers from some serviettes that I 'borrowed' from a friend when I went there for dinner and tied them to my arrow. They add a great sense of movement.

This was fun!

Happy scrappin'!

Scrapping Clearly Online Retreat

Well what a weekend I've had - and I didn't leave the house! Lol!

The Scrapping Clearly Virtual Cyber Crop was held over the weekend, replacing the physical retreat that would normally have happened at this time. Kylie Tout lined up the most amazing group of artists, from both Australia and overseas, who made videos sharing their art, their lives and their techniques. There were challenges, heaps of sharing of ideas and loads of inspiration!

One class was run by Lisa Oxley, one of my favourite Aussie artists. My daughter is stranded at home in isolation with us so she joined me in watching Lisa's video and creating from it. It's the first time we have created together in years. We had such fun! I took photos of us in my scrap room and used the art journal page I made in the class to make a scrapping page about us creating together.

I love Lisa's bright colours and I added my own touches to what she taught.

Courtney donned her bunny ears for the occassion.......

I love the layers of colour and paper.

I then got inspired by a number of different teachers, including Seth Apter, to create an art journal page. I challenged myself to use only pieces that were already on my table from previous creations. I had previously dragged out some old rub-ons so I loaded the page with those. The quote is from one of the challenges.

You can still drop over the Facebook page at Scrappingclearly Virtual Cyber Crop to see what's been happening.

Happy scrappin'!
