Get Your Bling On At Kraft Plus!

Hello again!

Have you seen the fantastic new Aussie challenge site called Karft Plus? I love it! It's only been operating a month and it's been a huge success already. Take a look here.

I was asked to design a layout for Tinby Designs, makers of my fave products - Metallic Melts.

The challenges are a bit different each month. You can make just about anything but it must be on a kraft base. This month there's a sketch for inspiration, plus you have to add something that glitters or shines. Of course Metallic Melts were perfect for this!

You can find more details on the challenge here

Here's the sketch for March:

I stuck very closely to the sketch as I really liked it and it worked well for me. Here's what I made:

Meet my niece's kitten, Billy. He's incredibly active, intelligent and funny. And sooo cute!

I used the Metallic Melts in different ways here. I added it to chipboard stars from The Dusty Attic and scattered them across the page. I added some directly to areas stamped with clear Versamark ink to get that random feature in the background.

Behind the photo I punched a border then added pink and gold Metallic Melts to it. Beneath that I used a stamp and embossed the image and beneath that again I stamped a strip between two strips of washi tape, embossed the strip, then removed the washi. Further down I stamped Versamark ink through a template before adding the Metallic Melts. I also added two colours of Metallic Melts to the title.

I hope you can join in the challenge. The site is bright and chatty and it's loads of fun.

Happy scrappin'!

What's Cooking?

Hi there!

Today I have my third layout to show you that I made with the new Freestyle Scrappy Chat Designs kit. If you've been following my recent posts, you'll see how all three of them are so different to each other!

Here's the layout:

A layout like this can be made from all sorts of papers. I love the idea of using bright, contrasting papers to create the layered shapes and I have made a video to show you how. If you are a Scrappy Chat Designs member the video link will be emailed to you.

This was such a fun page to make! Close ups and more details of this page can be found on the Scrappy Chat Designs blog here.

If you're interested in finding out more about these kits email orders.scrappychatdesigns@gmail.com or check out the website here.

Need I Say More?

Hello there. I hope your day has been going well.

I have my second layout using the amazing Freestyle kit from Scrappy Chat Designs to share with you.

When I first opened the kit, the first paper I pulled aside for a background was this "I Love You' paper. I love text as a background and this repeating sentence says it all. Hence my title, "Need I Say More?"

I love how my layouts from this kit are very different to each other. For more info on how I created this one, head over to the Scrappy Chat Designs blog here

Thanks so much for dropping by. If you like this kit, or are interested in receiving a kit plus 3 video instructions each month, email orders.scrappychatdesigns@gmail.com or check out the website here.

My Little Cub

Hi there. I'm here to share the first of my layouts using the Freestyle kit from Scrappy Chat Designs.. What a fabulous variety of papers there are in this kit! I was able to create three very different pages, all from the one kit.

Here's my first layout:

For all the info, head over to the Scrappy Chat Designs blog. I give all the details there on how I made this page.

If you would like more information about this kit you can email orders.scrappychatdesigns@gmail.com or check out the website here.

Beautiful Ride

Hi there.

I'm back again with my last layout using this month's kit from Scrappy Chat Designs. I based this layout around the gorgeous My Mind's Eye paper "Beautiful Ride".

Firstly, here's the layout:

To make the background, I first cut out the centre of the Beautiful Ride paper. I left the title in the top left corner, the bike in the bottom right plus the border all the way around. I just used a pair of small scissors around the shaped parts and my trimmer along the straight edge in between. I then lay this border on the woodgrain side of the "Hello" paper for a gorgeous contrast.

I had a fair bit of space around the people in my photo so I made it a bit more interesting by cutting the photo into strips in the blank areas but leaving it intact where my family are. I then used a distressing tool to scratch lines around each piece. I really like this effect. I sprayed the Fireworks spray behind the photo to help ground it.

I didn't want to unbalance the layout by adding journalling in a block anywhere so I wrote my journalling in curved lines across the page and 'hung' my banner from it. The banner is made entirely from scraps leftover from making these three layouts from the kit.

To make the flowers, I again attacked my scraps pile. I tore rough circles from the two papers I used on the layout, wet them and scrunched them up. I then dried them with a heat gun and glued them together in layers. These flowers are so easy to make and are great for adding dimension and interest to your page.I then used a leaf punch and punched the leaves from leftover bar code strips from the other papers from the kit.

Here are some close ups:

I hope you have as much fun creating with your kit as I did!

Happy scrappin'
