Scraplift at kraft Plus

 Hello there!

I love the new challenge at Kraft Plus. In honour of the founder of Kraft Plus, Sandra Wallace, this month the challenge is to scraplift a layout of hers. It's a gorgeous design so I stuck to it fairly closely.

I made this while I was travelling and I only had one photo with me. It was taken by one of two amazing ladies who owned one of the accommodation places we stayed in. It's a mini Polaroid. It's not a great shot but I had to work with what I had!

The gorgeous butterflies and wings are from ArtStacks.

I hope you can join the scraplift challenge! You can find the details here.

Happy scraplifting!

'Shine' at More Than Words

Have you seen the Mini Challenge at More than Words? You have to use the word "Shine" on your card, tag, ATC or postcard.

I made a tag:

This little boy from ArtStacks' "All Dressed up" pack is adorable! In keeping with the Shine theme, I added a peacock feather instead of the usual ribbon to the top of the tag.

Will you join us this month? You can find the details here.

Happy crafting!

The Sparkle in Your Eyes

Have you seen the new challenge at More Than Words? You have to be inspired by the word "Sparkle" and use Gesso on your art journal page.

Here's my interpretation of the challenge:

I love this cute little girl from ArtStacks' "All Dressed Up" pack. The green mushroom is from the same pack. I moved the legs on the little girl to make it look like she's dancing and to suit the quote. The wings and butterfly are from the "Wings & Things" pack.

I splattered gesso across my page and, when it was dry, I circled the splats with pen to make them stand out.

Will you join in the challenge? You can find the details here.

Happy crafting!

Love is Timeless by Heather McMahon

Don't you just love Deb Weiers' new releases at ArtStacks? I adore her colours and really wanted to use one of her background papers so I made this:

I added the photo from ArtStacks' All Dressed Up pack and the stunning wings are from the Wings & Things pack. The title and text are added digitally.

Head to www.artstacks.com.au/shop to see the papers I used.

Happy scrapping!

Perfectly Wonky at More Than Words

The new Mini Challenge at More Than Words got me thinking - you have to use the word "Perfect" on your tag, card, ATC or postcard. I found this wonderful quote and just had to use it!

I was super-excited to use Deb Weiers' new releases from ArtStacks! She has two new packs - Wonky Critters and Wonky Bits. They're stunning! This cute little guy and the gorgeous bright background paper are both from Wonky Critters. You can find the new releases here.

I hope you can join in the challenge! You can find it here

Spread Your Wings and Fly Away

Hello! The November challenge at Kraft+ is to be inspired by song lyrics. This one gives us lots of options.

I made an art journal page. I was inspired by the Queen song, "Spread your wings". I used ArtStacks images from both the All Dressed Up pack and the Wings & Things pack. I love how versatile these images are.

ArtStacks New Deb Weiers Releases!

Oh my goodness - have you seen Deb Weiers' new releases over at ArtStacks? They're stunning! I couldn't wait to use them on my project for More Than Words. The new challenge there this month is to be inspired by the word 'Face' and to use mono-printing on your art journal page.

The challenge was perfect for these papers because Deb Weiers is famous for her faces. I chose one of my favourites - her version of Vermeer's "Girl With a Pearl Earring".

"Mono-printing' simply means any unique print, so not a bought background paper for example. My background is a geli-print that I made.

I was really struck by the fact that it took two incredible artists who painted more than 350 years apart to make this image. I used Deb's background papers, flowers and wonky circles on the page as well.

Will you join us at More Than Words this month? You can find the challenge here.

Happy art journaling!

Be Outrageous with ArtStacks

Welcome back!

I've had a blast playing with white pen on black paper and adding pops of colour with ArtStacks images.

I thought this little boy was so expressive and fitted my 'outrageous' theme perfectly. My boy, balloons, sunflower and mushroom are all from the All Dressed Up pack at ArtStacks

Everything else on the page is just white pen on black watercolour paper. I'm often disappointed in white pens but my Posca pen worked like a charm!

I hope you love these versatile images as much as I do!

Happy arting.

Magical at More Than Words

The Mini Challenge at More Than Words this month is to use the word 'Magical' on your card, tag, ATC or postcard.

I love this image - it's from the new "All Dressed Up' pack from ArtStacks. I think it shows the magical relationship between the two people.

Getting Strangely Inky

Hi there!

The Main Challenge at More Than Words this month is to be inspired by the word 'Strange' and to use ink on your project.

I'm travelling with limited supplies atm and only had two ink pads with me. I have no stencils or anything to use with them so I simply gently rubbed the blue ink pad directly onto the background.

Luckily I had a few ArtStacks images with me so I put this together with those.

I also had the October challenge at Art Journal Journey in mind when I made this. The talented Elle from Empire of the Cat is hosting it and I was inspired by her description of fables that explains that they can feature mythical creatures and they always have a moral behind them. My mythical man is kind of kooky but he still tells a story.

You can find the Art Journal Journey challenge here.

I also hope you can join in the fun at More Than Words this month! You can find the challenge here.

Happy journaling!

Beauty Shines From Within

Welcome back!

I'm loving playing with the new releases at ArtStacks. For this art journal page, I used one of the very cool faces printed on translucent paper from the All Dressed Up pack. I love the effect this creates!

In keeping with the gorgeous vintage lady with a cheeky face I added flowers from ArtStacks' Anemones & Friends pack plus a quote from the same All Dressed Up pack that the lady is from.

Head over to the ArtStacks shop here to see the pack in detail.

Remember the Feeling

Hello! I'm super-excited to share my first project using the new release "All Dressed Up" pack from ArtStacks. I absolutely love this pack! The images are so varied. I can see them working with so many different styles of projects.

This project is for Kraft + where the challenge is to use blue, red, orange, yellow and, most importantly, kraft! I made an art journal page.

I layered up some scraps of patterned paper, book paper and Deb Weiers' stunning backgrounds to get the right colours and added some crazy stitching. I took the new All Dressed Up pack and cut out the gorgeous little boy, sat him on a mushroom and gave him balloons, all from the same pack.

I used the title, again from the same pack, to remind us to treasure those special moments from childhood.

Will you join us this month? You can find the challenge details here.

New Releases at ArtStacks!

I'm so thrilled to be sharing my new project made with ArtStacks' two new-release packs, All Dressed Up and Wings & Things. I love how these packs work together so well!

To make this I took a geli-print background, punched one edge and added ric-rac. I took one of the windows from the Doors & Windows CardStack. This page is printed on watercolour paper so you can colour it to suit your page but I chose to leave it white, in keeping with the pink and white colours on the page. I did colour the flower box from the same page though.

I added the little girl, the crown, the book and the title, all from the new All Dressed Up pack, and added the striking pink wings from the Wings & Things pack. The little girl looks so delighted with her new outfit!

I absolutely adore these new packs.

Head to www.artstacks.com.au to see the new releases in detail.

Every Day is a Journey

Hello! The new Mini Challenge at More Than Words is to use the word Journey on your mini project. I made a tag.

I used part of a page from ArtStacks' Doors & Windows pack, backed it onto black cardstock, added and title and fibres and that's it!

Will you join the Journey challenge? You can find the details here.

Happy Journeying!

Choose Your Own Adventure at MTW

The new challenge at More Than Words is to be inspired by the word "Adventure' and to use a map on your art journal page.

I layered a torn map onto kraft cardstock then used one of the awesome sketchbook images by Deb Weiers at ArtStacks to make the point that we all need to choose our own adventure. We're all unique and we shouldn't think that we have to tread the same path as others.

Will you join us this month? You can find the challenge here.

Happy adventuring!

We're All In This Together

Hello again! The new challenge at Kraft + is to use handwriting on your project - and kraft of course.

I had fun with this one. I made an art journal page using scraps off my desk. I love the random, messy effect that scraps give to my pages.

I tore the book page then wrote my journaling on the kraft background between the torn sections. I used one of Deb Weiers' gorgeous little pieces of two people from ArtStacks and wrote "We're all in this together" repeatedly on the kraft background between the torn sections. This is a statement about world events, mainly the war in Ukraine and covid.

The book paper already had leaves and circles punched out of it so I utilised those in my page.

I hope you'll play along this month. You can find the challenge here.

Happy krafting!

Joy at More Than Words

Hello! The new challenge at More Than Words is to use the word Joy on your card, tag, ATC or postcard.

I made a tag:

Everything except the word is from Lisa Oxley's Bright & Bold stack at ArtStacks. I love these papers!

Wonderful Watercolours!

Well it's a new month and that's always a good thing cos it means there's a new challenge at More Than Words!

The challenge this month is to be inspired by the word 'Wonderful' and to use watercolours on your art journal page. Here's what I made:

I created my background with watercolours then fussy cut some of the gorgeous pink anemones and butterflies from the Anemones & Friends CardStack from ArtStacks and layered them up. I added a transparency window from the Doors & Windows pack and added a title.

I hope you'll join us this month! You can find the challenge here

Words Matter at ArtStacks

Hello! It's my turn over at ArtStacks today and I've made an art journal page using Deb Weiers' new Wonky Faces and Wonky Backgrounds stacks. I love Deb's wacky, wonky designs.

This page was very simple to make. I took the entire page of words from the Wonky Backgrounds pack and swiped some teal and blue paints on it. The teal is actually a lot darker than the pic shows. I layered a strip of Deb's stripes down the side and, after I added the pic, I painted some red circles around the page, mimicking the ones in the picture.

My title is 'Words Matter' using the words on tissue from the Wonky Faces pack. I added the word Art as well, just because I had a space that needed filling! There are also words on the picture so there are a lot of words on this page!

I love using bold colours with black and white contrasts. They have so much impact.

For more inspiration, head over to ArtStacks here.

It's Time for a Daydream!

Welcome back!

The Mini Challenge at More Than Words is running for a whole month to celebrate our 150th challenge! The word to use on your card, tag, ATC or postcard this month is DAYDREAM.

I made a tag:

I used papers from The Homemaker stack over at ArtStacks. This stack is a bit of a fave of mine!

I hope you can join in the fun for our 150th challenge! You can find the challenge details here.

Monochromatic and Kraft!

Hello!

The new challenge at Kraft Plus this month is Monochromatic. I rummaged through my new Deb Weiers papers and found this cool dude in an orange shirt. There's also a very cool background on translucent paper that is mostly orange so I went with that. It wasn't until after I finished the page that I realised how many other colours are on that background too. Whoops!

I hope you can join in the challenge this month. You can find it here.

Enchanting at More Than Words

 Hello there!

The new challenge at More Than Words is to be inspired by the word Enchanting and to use Botanicals on your art journal page.

At first I couldn't think what to use for the Botanicals part of the challenge but then I remembered that ArtStacks have some stunning botanical pictures in some of  'The Homemaker' stacks - on 94-year-old paper! I used this stack to make my page about how Enchanting old books are.

I highlighted the 94-year-old paper:

You can find 'The Homemaker" stack here.

I hope you can join the challenge! You can find the details here.

3 Cards in 3 Steps

Hi there. I forgot to post this one previously! I made these three bright and cheery cards in just three simple steps using rainbows from Lisa Oxley’s Bright & Bold stack.

Card 1

Step 1 – Stamp Happy Birthday sentiment multiple times over the page making one a different colour.
Step 2 – Add one of Lisa’s rainbows.
Step 3 – Draw a border around the card including a small heart.

Card 2

Step 1 – Cut some Hearts paper from Lisa’s Bright & Bold stack to fit the card, ink the edges and adhere to card front.
Step 2 – Add one of Lisa’s rainbows.
Step 3 – Swipe a bit of gesso behind the title, let it dry then adhere a title sticker on top.

Card 3

Step 1 – Add spatters to the background.
Step 2 – Add one of Lisa’s rainbows and journal around the outside of it.
Step 3 – Add a sentiment and doodle a border, including a sun in one corner.

The hearts paper and the rainbows are all from Lisa’s Bright & Bold stack. You can find it here.

I hope you can use these as inspiration to make your own fun cards!
