Woohoo! Happy New Year to you all! I sincerely hope it's a fabulous one for you.
At More Than Words we realise that many people take a moment at the start of January to assess the past year and plan the future one, so our challenge for January is to be inspired by the word "Goals" and to add some Journaling to your project. The journaling can be typed, handwriten or take any form you like, so long as there is some form of journaling on the page.
I made an art journal page.
I used the word 'Goals' literally on this project. I love this quote and I think that way too few people pay heed to it. My kids especially don't seem to plan much so I journalled at the bottom of the page, "Dreams and wishes are fun. Pick which ones you want to see happen then plan and work hard for them.
Mum's words of wisdom #1"
I tore a page out of an old book to use as my base. I added paint, Magicals, stencilled patterns and stamps to the background. On top I use some cool trim and a few other bits and pieces before adding my quote. Of course, there has to be some messy stitching!
The sentence "It was a beautiful day" was in the text of the book page. I swiped my paint around that sentence, keeping it clear. It then picked up the colours of the Magicals, making the sentence stand out. I love this effect.
I hope you can join in the challenge this month. You can find the challenge here.
Happy scrappin!

Lindy's Challenge
Hello again.
I've finally found time to enter a challenge! I saw the awesome colour challenge over at Lindy's Stamp Gang this month so I thought I'd give it a go.
Here's what I made:
Those of you who are familiar my scrapping would know I adore colours like these! I've used Magicals to create the background, mixed with a little stamping. The coloured chippies are really old. I re-discovered them in my stash recently and saw their potential!
The Lindy's Magicals I used are:
Mango Mania, Luscious Lime, Caribbean Blue and Pineapple Paradise. These are all from the Caribbean Cruise set which you can find here.
Happy scrappin'!

I accentuated the word 'amazing' by using it twice, with the second word tumbling down the page. I've also used some Dusty Attic chippie flourishes and painted them white to stand out on the bright background as well as some chippie stars and a heart.
I love how easy it is to create backgrounds with Magicals.
To create the large title, I stuck old foam alphas down then sprayed colour around them and applied the Magicals. I then removed the alphas and outlined the stencilled images in pen.

I'm Back!
Hello all. My apologies for being absent from this blog for a while. I had a wonderful overseas trip - you'll be seeing a lot of holiday pics for a while!
I must admit, I missed my scrapping! I'm back into it again now and everything seems fresh and inspiring.
This is the first layout I've made since I returned and I created it just for the fun of it. As usual, my Dusty Attic chippies and paints were the first products I turned to.
I don't know if it's a reflection of all the gorgeous colours I've seen on my trip but I seem to be even more obsessed with colour than ever. I didn't think it was possible to be more obsessed than I already was! I've concentrated on colour and texture on this page, keeping embellishments simple. Having said that, the piece of the large Dusty Attic Chevron Panel is a feature and draws a strong focus to the photo.
I painted the Polaroid Frame roughly with Soot and Navajo White paint. My favourite piece on the whole page is the Mini Heart Button. These always seem to add that special something to any page!
I made the background mainly with Colour Blast paste, Heidi Swapp Color Shine and LSG Magicals.

More Than Words in May
Hello there! Welcome back to my blog.
Today I'm sharing the layout I made for the new More Than Words challenge. The challenge word this month is "Moment" and the creative challenge is to use clocks, or parts of clocks, in your project. You can find the challenge here.
Here's what I made:
I was inspired by both the word and the creative challenge to use a photo of my daughter when she was going through a phase of dressing up in Japanese-inspired costumes. She had a lot of fun with this.
That chippie under the photo is a gorgeous Dusty Attic flourish. I simply painted it white. The clocks are a die.
I hope you can join our challenge this month! Here's the challenge board:

A Dusty Journal!
Hello!
I'm back with you today to share a journal that I altered. I've been doing a 12-week fitness challenge at a gym and we have to keep a journal for it. We are split into teams and they told us to decorate our journals in our team colours. As you can imagine, asking a scrapper to decorate a journal was like asking the sun to shine or the wind to blow - it's just what we do naturally!
Here's what I made:
I used Dusty Attic paints on the background through a Dusty Attic stencil. I then splashed some Magicals around. Here's what the first layers looked like.
I added a few more layers of paints and Magicals to get the final effect.
I LOVE this chippie scroll. I simply painted it in silver and let it shine!
It's quite hard to stencil on a surface that has already been stenciled on as the surface becomes uneven and wet mediums seep under the stencils, so I stenciled the butterflies onto a piece of white cardstock, cut them out and glued them onto the cover. It was slow work but I love the white borders around the butterflies as it helps them to stand out from the background.

So have you guessed the challenge word yet? Yep! It's 'Happy"! And can you guess why I wrote these particular words? If you're a regular follower of my blog you will probably know but scroll down to the end of this post if you're not sure ;)
There are heaps of layers on this one, each using different products. There are Magicals, then gesso through a Dusty Attic stencil, then Colour Blast paste through a different Dusty Attic stencil, then paints, pen and a few different Dusty attic chippies. Phew!

The February 'More Than Words' Challenge!
Hello there! Well our brand new challenge, 'More Than Words', has got off to a flying start! We are so thrilled with the quantity and incredible quality of entries we've had to our first ever challenge!
The second challenge has now been released. Here's what I made for it.
And here's the fabulous new More Than Words challenge board for February:
You have to use the word 'Wonderful' as your inspiration. Remember that we need to see how the word inspired you. You then need to make sure you add some sparkle to your project!
My three nieces came to stay with us recently. I don't get to see them anywhere near often enough so this was a really wonderful event for all of us. I just had to scrap about them! They are also simply wonderful girls!
To make my project shine I used Lindy's Magicals on the background then added gold paint through stencils and on my Dusty Attic chippies. I then added Tinby Designs Metallic Melts to the chippies for that super glamourous shine!
I'm head over heels in love with that chippie! It's from Dusty Attic and it's called Elegant Chain. You can find it here.
I love creating texture as well as sparkle with the Metallic Melts!
I sure hope you can join in the challenge this month! You can find all the details here.
Happy scrappin'!

We hope you like what we've created!
Here's my layout for the first challenge:
Our very first challenge is to use to be influenced by the word "Personality" and to use a Selfie in your project. Here's the stunning Challenge Board:

Our very first challenge is to use to be influenced by the word "Personality" and to use a Selfie in your project. Here's the stunning Challenge Board:
I found the hardest part of this challenge was to take a selfie. I'm hopeless at them! Anyway, I took heaps and finally got one that I was half happy with. I believe it's important to get ourselves in front of the camera sometimes. I have hundreds of photos of special events where there is no record of me even being there as I was always behind the camera!
As this page is about me, I used my favourite scrappy things - teal colours, white cardstock, Tinby Designs Metallic Melts and Dusty Attic chippies. I also added extra words cos I'm a word type of girl!
I painted my Dusty Attic feather with a white paint pen - this is great for colouring it while still keeping the fine details intact. I coloured the beads with paint then added Clear Gloss Varnish on top for a more dimensional look. I created a loopy line across the page with Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals then looped a piece of wire above it.
I love the look of Metallic Melts on chippies.
My title came about by seeing so many people fail to be happy with life because they don't plan to achieve whatever it is they want. I believe a satisfying life doesn't just happen, we have to make it happen.
I really hope you can join in our very first challenge! You can find it HERE.
Happy scrappin'!

The Last Scrap Around The World Reveal!
Hello - and welcome to the last Scrap Around The World reveal! Yes, SATW is closing down. This will be the last month but it will be a month with loads of extra prizes, so head over to check it out here.
Here's what I made:
I adore this photo of my daughter. She can be so quiet sometimes and so out there at other times!
Here is the gorgeous mood board by the equally gorgeous Valia Katzaki. I think it's pretty obvious that my influences were the pink and gold colours but I also used flowers and leaves and I added the quote into the main flower cluster. I think any girl that can pull off a pic like this has a very bright future!
I was quite deliberate about where I put the Magicals that form the pink spray behind the photo. I wanted to accentuate that feel of the energy radiating out from my daughter. This photo was actually taken in a room with a really cluttered background, so I photoshopped the background out which also made her stand out more. By making the photo background all white, then leaving it as an almost complete 6 x 4 photo, I was really able to play with the white photo on white cardstock concept.
I kept the title simple - and very self-explanatory! - and coated it with gold paint. I then added gold Metallic Melts to just the bottom half for some extra interest.
