Blossom at ArtStacks

Hello, hello! How is your January going?

I've been having fun making an art journal page for ArtStacks.

To start, I layered up my background with leftover dressmaker's paper from 'The Dressmaker' stack from ArtStacks then I added some paper scraps, paint, stenciling and some of the white and blue floral paper from the 'Anemones & Friends' stack.

My feature piece is a figure from the 'Faces & Figures' stack. I love how she seems to have a sense of confidence about her. For something different, I took the digital 'Anemones & Friends' file and printed the tissue flowers page on plain white paper. I then coloured the flower centres and the leaves with pencils and layered them behind my figure. I really like how this came up and it was so simple. I finished off with a quote from the same stack and some doodling.

NEW year, NEW Mini Challenge!

Can you guess what the word for the Mini Challenge is this month? Yes, it's NEW!

I made a postcard:

I built my card on a cardboard base, layering ArtStack tissue over the top and adding watercolours. I added bits and pieces of leftovers and topped it all with an ArtStacks butterfly and a quote. Actually, I made the quote up - does that make it a quote if I'm quoting myself? Lol.

I hope you join our Mini Challenge. Head here to see the details.

Things go better with Coke!

Hello! Kraft+ have gone retro this month with their mood board. The images on it are all vintage Coke ads! At first I wondered how I was going to create about Coke, then I realised we need to be inspired by the graphics. Cool!

I took my inspiration from two of the images. I made an art journal page.

The V-shape inspiration came from both images and the retro lady came from the centre top image. All the papers are from the ArtStacks Limited Editions stacks. I love these!

A big shout out to Leanne Jago - I totally stole her idea of using the pianola roll and tissue paper pattern pieces in a cluster like this with the flowers tucked in between. I added a paper ruffle from The Dressmaker stack on top. The gorgeous retro lady is also from The Dressmaker stack and the flowers are all from the Anemones & Friends stack. The pianola roll paper and the kraft-coloured dressmaking tissue are from The Homemaker stack.

Here's the challenge board. I took my inspiration from the centre top and bottom right images.

I hope you can join us this month!

BEGINNINGS at More Than Words

Happy New Year! I hope you were able to celebrate a little on New Year's Eve.

At More Than Words, we 're celebrating the new year with an appropriate new challenge. You have to be inspired by the word BEGINNINGS and use WASHI on your project.

I'm completely smitten with the new Limited Edition releases at ArtStacks so I just had to use one of those. This page was made using "The Homemaker" stack.

I was a bit concerned that I used a photo of myself when I was looking for a vintage pic but I can console myself knowing that I'm not as old as one of the papers in the stack - it's 94 years old!

I added washi around my photo using music notes to tie in with the gorgoues old background music paper. The "happy times" saying is also on a washi tape.

I used heaps of layers of papers from "The Homemaker" stack.

Will you join us this month? You can find the challenge here.

Happy scrappin'!
