Ocean & Splatters

It's the first of the month and you know what that means! Yes - the new challenge is up at More Than Words. This month you have to be inspired by the word Ocean and use Splatters on your art journal page. I found a wonderful quote online and used that:

I was in a textural mood so I added lots of cool textures to the cluster on the left then topped it with one of Lisa Oxley's hearts from ArtStacks.

Isn't that quote wonderful?

Hello! The new challenge over at More Than Words this month is to use the word TREASURE on a card, tag, ATC or postcard.

I made a quick and easy tag using Lisa Oxley's Bright & Bold stack from ArtStacks:

Beauty is Everywhere

Hello! The new challenge is up at More Than words! You have to be inspired by the word Vintage and add some Collage to your art journal page.

Can you spot the collage in mine?

Yes - I collaged the butterfly! I collaged pieces of vintage paper that were given to me by my online friend, Carolyn S. Nehring. I digitally removed most of the colour from the butterfly then printed the butterfly over the top of the collage, letting the vintage papers show through. I then cut it out and added it to my page.

A Bit of Banksy

Hi there. I don't usually get political in my artwork but this month's challenge over at Kraft + sent me heading in this direction. The challenge is to be inspired by Banksy and to use kraft of course.

Banksy's artwork often makes a social statement and a huge social issue at the moment is the invasion of the Ukraine.

Banksy often paints figures in black and white so I found a photo of Putin and digitally altered it to look like it's painted. I added a quote by the Ukrainian president (I altered the quote slightly from the original) which I think sums up the ridiculous reasons Putin has come up with to justify this war.

Banksy often adds splashes of colour, particularly red, so I used this to symbolise the casualties of war.

I love the way challenges inspire us to try new things!

I hope you can join us. You can find the details here.

Happy creating!

Write Your Own Story

Welcome back! The new Mini Challenge at More Than Words is to use the word STORY on your card, tag, ATC or postcard.

I made a card:

I already had the little man sitting on my desk so this card came together so quickly. I just added the background papers from Lisa Oxley's Bright & Bold stack over at ArtStacks. I wrote my title on the rainbow, which is also from Lisa's stack, added a border and I was done!

Framed at Kraft +

Hello and welcome back!

Have you seen the new challenge at Kraft+ yet? The challenge is to get 'Framed'. Oh there are so many cool options for this one!

I was walking the other day and spied these stunning Rainbow Lorikeets eating the brilliant red blossom in a red flowering gum. The colours were so striking that I just had to create about them.

I'm a bit smitten with the papers in Lisa Oxley's new packs over at ArtStacks. I loved this particular page so much that I just added the whole page to my kraft background. The kraft really made the vivid colours pop!

The rainbow, which is from the same Bright & Bold Stack as the main paper, was a perfect touch for my Rainbow Lorikeets.

I used a Dusty Attic chippie frame around my pic. This one is one I designed for a class a while ago.

Will you join us this month? Head here for more info on how to enter.

Happy krafting!

Tags and Pockets

Gosh -I've been so busy lately I've hardly had a chance to create!

I did finally get to the craft room though as it's time again for the new challenge over at More Than Words. The challenge this month is to use tags or pockets on your art journal page. I had those two words (tags and pocket) running through my mind when suddenly the lyrics to this song popped into my head. They were perfect - they have both tags AND pocket! I had a blast making this. I used the new ArtStacks packs by Lisa Oxley. I think I'm in love!

Aren't the colours just amazing? The pink canvas is from Lisa's Floral Fetish stack and the stunning harlequin paper and the paint swatches are from her Bright and Bold stack. The leaves, butterflies and heart are all cut or punched from the sensational background page, also from the Bright and Bold stack.

I hope you can join us at More Than Words this month! You can find the challenge here.

Happy art journaling!
