A Moment to Shine

Hello! Well I've had a hugely busy month but somehow I've found myself at the end of it with some scrappy time to spare. I hunted around the challenge blogs and found a great challenge over at 7 Dots Studio. The theme this month is "Moments in Time". Just about anything would suit this challenge but I chose to scrap about a beautiful moment I caught between two of my nieces.

I used papers, elements and stickers from the gorgeous Verano Azul range from 7 Dots. I love the way the lighter section at the top of the page looks like clouds. It works so well with the photo.

I adore the expression of freedom that the girls show in this photo. I want them to know that they are beautiful girls and I hope that they shine all their lives like they do in this photo.

There are lots of Dusty Attic goodies on this page - the chippies and paints are all theirs. I covered the chippie heart button with 7 Dots paper so everything coordinated.

You can find the 7 Dots challenge here.

I hope you can give the challenge a go - it's fun!

Happy scrappin'!

A November ATC

Hello again. It's the last week of the month which means it's Mini Challenge time at More Than Words! I love these Mini Challenges.

Here's the ATC I made:

I really enjoyed making this. I had another idea in mind when I started but the blue background that I made with Tinby Designs Colour Crush was so cool that I didn't want to cover it up! That stunning star banner is from Dusty Attic. You can find it here.

The word that must be used on your entry is 'Day'. Here's the challenge board.

I sure hope you can join in the challenge. Remember, entries close on the last day of the month!

Happy scrappin'!

A Tribute to Lost Art

Hello and welcome back! Today I have a layout to share for The Dusty Attic that I made as a tribute to an amazing man and his art.

Bruno is an incredibly talented artist and sculptor in Marysville, Victoria. We saw his work years ago and all our family loved it so much that we bought a statue that was a replica of a huge one in the main street of Marysville. A few years later, fires swept through the area killing many people and destroying much of Bruno's work, including the original statue. We are so glad that our little statue of the old bushwalker and his grandson continues to sit in our garden, forever watching the country around it.

Don't you just love these funky new frames from The Dusty Attic? I can see myself using a lot of these! That poppy is a fave chippy too. Poppies are my favourite flowers.

To make the background I scraped on a little Dusty Attic Navajo White paint then added some splashes of Tinby Designs Colour Crush and some stamping.

Here are a few closies:

The Dusty Attic products I used are:
Whimsy Frames #6 DA1562

Poppies DA1289

Dusty in Colour Paint
in Forrest, Navajo White
and Soot.

Dusty in Colour Clear
Gloss Varnish DA 0901

Imagine Anything

Hello again! I have a confession to make - I made a bit of a boo-boo with my posts. I accidentally published my two Scrappy Chat Designs posts early. As soon as I realised my mistake I took them offline but if you think you've seen these before, then you might have!

Anyway, I had a whole lot of fun playing with my new 'Imagine Anything' kit from Scrappy Chat Designs. I adore this kit - it's full of gorgeous vintage papers and cool embellishments. They're all perfectly co-ordinated to help you get your pages done and into your albums.

Here's my first layout:

I fiddled with my photo a bit to give it a vintage feel and added some Thickers and a bit of spray to the background. Everything else came in the kit!

For my second layout I chose a photo from the same fun night but made a very different page.

I've used the doily in two ways in this layout. I've also used the dolly peg that was in the kit in a technique on my background. Scrappy Chat Designs members will receive a Tech Sheet with step by step instructions showing how I made this page.

Dusty in November

Hello scrappy friends! I'm back with you today to share a layout I made using the stunning November Dusty Attic mood board.

I am so lucky - a box of brand new Dusty Attic products arrived at the post office for me last week. It was chock-a-block full of new release chippies and stencils and some top-ups of paints and varnishes. It was like Christmas!

I used the new Leaves Stencil to create the leaves on this layout. Here's how....

Lay the stencil on cardstock and dab a baby wipe in Dusty Attic's Jungle Green paint. Dab the baby wipe through the stencil. By using a baby wipe instead of a brush you will get a much crisper image.

Cut out the stencilled images when dry and you have gorgeous leaves that co-ordinate with the paint on the chippies.

For my background I applied gesso through a new Scribble Circles stencil (I can see this one becoming a fave!), then added stamping and some Tinby Designs Colour Crush for a punch of colour.

I painted the Ivy Corners #2 chippie, cut it up and placed it around my photo. I added some small Flower Layers #5 and some punched and die-cut dragonflies.

Here's the stunning November mood board. Don't forget the winner receives a $100 Dusty Attic gift voucher! You can find the challenge here.

I used the colour combo of course but I also incorporated dragonflies and painting from the mood board into my layout. The fresh blues and greens of the mood board inspired me to use an outdoor photo.

The Dusty Attic products I used are:

Scribble Circles Stencil DA 1608

Leaves Stencil DA 1492

Ivy Corners #2 DA 1454

Flower Layers #5 DA 0889

Dusty in Colour paints in Jungle Green,
Forrest, Storm Cloud and Navajo White

November Challenge at More Than Words

Oh my - have you seen the new challenge over at More Than Words? The challenge is to be inspired by the word "Special" and to use at least one item from the quote "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue". Now this might make you think of weddings but if you're like me and don't have a recent wedding to scrap, think outside the square! I used a photo of my daughter with her Special blue hair and used all four elements of the quote in my work.

I think my daughter has tried just about every hair colour now. She's a very determined and individual young lady.

Here's the challenge board:

You only have to use one part of the quote in your challenge but I used all four: the title is made with old alphas, the blue is from my brand new set of Tinby Designs Colour Crush, I borrowed the quote from the internet (ok - that one's a bit of a stretch!) and well, there's no doubt I used blue!

I spy another Dusty Attic Mini Heart Button. I'm finding I'm putting these on almost every project lately.

I had fun making that background with stencilling on book paper and lots of Colour Crush.

I even coloured my flowers with Colour Crush so they matched my page perfectly. I left all the chippie untreated - I liked the way it worked with the blue.

I sure hope you can join in the challenge this month. You can find it here.

Happy scrappin'!
