Dusty in Santorini

Hello! I'm back today with a layout for The Dusty Attic. I've scrapped another one of my Santorini photos. I don't know why but I seem to keep turning to my Dusty Attic chippies every time I scrap one of these pics. They just seem to match!

Here's what I made:

There's quite an interesting story to this background. I firstly had the idea of keeping the background fairly sparse so I just used pink Gelatos through a Feathers & Arrows stencil. I applied the Gelatos with a baby wipe. I decided that the hot pink Gelato was too stark for the page so I added some yellow Magicals. Now the page was too lolly-coloured so I toned it down with some white spray. I still didn't like it and almost threw it out but thought I'd try layering another stencil pattern on top. I applied gesso through the Confetti stencil to act as a bit of a resist, then added some blue Magicals over that. I liked where this was heading but it now looked like I had sprinkles (hundreds and thousands) on my page! I almost gave up again but thought I'd throw a heap more blue Magicals on there as a last ditch effort. It worked! I ended up with a very layered and detailed background, which was the opposite to what I started out trying to achieve!

Don't you just love that scroll under the photo? This was the piece that inspired this layout. I painted all the chippies white then used Gelatos to colour them.

I always write at least a date and location of the photo on my layouts however this one will be going into my album along with LOTS of other Santorini photos so I felt a date and location weren't necessary this time.

These are the Dusty Attic products that I used:

Scroll #2 DA 0215

Party Lights #1

Fleur de lis DA 1280

Word Pack #17 DA 1273

Feathers & Arrows Stencil DA 1327

Confetti stencil DA 1324

Happy scrappin'!
