Our First Mini Challenge!

Welcome back! I'm so excited to present our very first Mini Challenge at More Than Words! This challenge is a little different.

First, here's what I made. It's an Artist Trading Card:

This is such a tiny project. An ATC only measures 3.5 x 2.5 inches. I really enjoyed working on this size though. It was such an enjoyable challenge!

I used Silks on the background then layered my favourite Dusty Attic stencil over the top then added Metallic Melts onto a Dusty Attic chipboard butterfly.

The challenge this month is to use the word 'Be' somewhere on a card, tag or ATC. Here's the challenge board:

Before you enter, please check out our reveal post and an explanation of the challenge here. You only have one week to enter and you must load your entry onto the relevant post on our Facebook page. This challenge is designed to be quick and fun!

I sure hope you can join us.

Dusty in January

I'm excited! The Dusty Attic have brand new products out and brand new mood boards for the challenges this year! They're all so scrummy!

Here's what I made for the January challenge....

I had a blast with the fabulous new chippies and stencils and the beautiful colours from the new mood board.

Here's the mood board for January - don't you just love the colours?

I started off using more blues and greens but, well, the pink kind of just spoke to me at the time!

I used  the gorgeous Scroll #6 as the main feature behind my photo. I painted it with gesso, sprayed it with pink mist then added pink Tinby Designs Metallic Melts to add that texture and shimmer to the piece. Using such a large feature piece as this meant I didn't need to add a lot more.

Can you see that white texture behind the chipboard? That's one of the new stencils called Webbings #2. This is my fave stencil ever!

I added in some stunning Dusty Attic flowers. I love that there are a variety of sizes and coordinating designs in each pack. I also spattered some silver and white Dusty Attic paint around the page.

I used a combination of alphas, word stickers and Dusty Attic chipboard letters to form the title - the same title from the mood board.

The Dusty Attic products I used are:

Scroll #6 DA 0578

Mini Script ABC Set DA0859

Webbings #2 Stencil DA1497

Dusty in Bloom Bridal Veil DA0805

Dusty in Colour Navajo White and Silver

Video Tutorials at Scrappy Chat Designs!

Hello there! It's my turn over at Scrappy Chat Designs to design the main layouts for this month's kit. And what a fab kit it is! I had so many ideas for what to make I had to limit myself to only three layouts. I could have easily made more!

The kit is called "Summer Fun" and is full of sunny papers and oodles of interesting bits and bobs. However, the standout product to me is the new Colour Crush powders. These are SO COOL! They're a brand new product by Tinby Designs and I'm in love with them. At this stage, you can only get them with this kit.

Here's the first layout:

These bright colours were perfect with my summer holidays pics. For all the details and closies, head over to Scrappy Chat Designs here.

Members will receive a video showing how I made this layout plus two more videos for the other layouts I made with the kit. How awesome is that?

A New Year with The Dusty Attic

Hello again! I hope the New Year has started well for you. There is some great news at The Dusty Attic -  not only is there is new and extremely talented DT lined up for you but there is a 2016 special of 20% off all orders using the code HAPPY2016 at the checkout!

I have a layout to share using some of the sensational new Dusty Attic chippies and stencils. I'm in love with these!

That Webbings stencil is so much fun! I've used it a few times on this layout, with Dusty Attic texture paste as well as gesso. I also love the new Bubbles chippies - the bubbly look was perfect for this underwater pic. I coloured these with watercolours then added a coat of Clear Gloss Varnish to give them a professional finish.

I used some of the Heart Attack hearts as a frame for my photo then added Metallic Melts to some individual hearts as well as the title and flourish. I love this look and use it a lot on my work. Dusty Attic chippies and Metallic Melts are one of my favourite scrappy combinations ever!

Here are the Dusty Attic products I used:

Webbings #2 Stencil DA1497

Creative Script Stencil DA1495

Scroll Set #1 DA1466

Bubbles DA1509

Heart Attack Panel Small #1 DA1203

Mini Captions DA1386

Clear Gloss Varnish DA0901

Texture Paste DA1218

The First Ever 'More Than Words' Reveal!

Hello! Welcome to the New Year and our new challenge blog! I'm so excited - it seems like we've been waiting for this day forever.

In case you haven't heard about More Than Words yet, you can pop over HERE for a look. We are six members from the recently finished Scrap Around The World team who wanted to carry on the tradition of providing a fabulous, inspirational, world-wide challenge site.

We hope you like what we've created!

Here's my layout for the first challenge:

Our very first challenge is to use to be influenced by the word "Personality" and to use a Selfie in your project. Here's the stunning Challenge Board:

I found the hardest part of this challenge was to take a selfie. I'm hopeless at them! Anyway, I took heaps and finally got one that I was half happy with. I believe it's important to get ourselves in front of the camera sometimes. I have hundreds of photos of special events where there is no record of me even being there as I was always behind the camera!

As this page is about me, I used my favourite scrappy things - teal colours, white cardstock, Tinby Designs Metallic Melts and Dusty Attic chippies. I also added extra words cos I'm a word type of girl!

I painted my Dusty Attic feather with a white paint pen - this is great for colouring it while still keeping the fine details intact. I coloured the beads with paint then added Clear Gloss Varnish on top for a more dimensional look. I created a loopy line across the page with Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals then looped a piece of wire above it.

I love the look of Metallic Melts on chippies.

My title came about by seeing so many people fail to be happy with life because they don't plan to achieve whatever it is they want. I believe a satisfying life doesn't just happen, we have to make it happen.

I really hope you can join in our very first challenge! You can find it HERE.

Happy scrappin'!
