And So Say All of Us!

Well I hope your Christmas celebrations are all prepared and that you can spend time with family over the break. I also hope that you can sit back, relax and join in the new Mini Challenge at More Than Words! In keeping with our family theme, the word we want to see on your card, tag or ATC is 'Us'.

I made a card this month:

I thought the wording on this was appropriate as I made it for someone for his birthday with a git that was from a number of people.

The background on this is made with Tinby Designs Colour Crush, overlaid with stitiching and die-cuts. This style of wording is a great way to use up odds and ends of alphas.

I hope you can join in! You can find the mini challenge details here.

Make a Splash!

Oh gosh - I've been having such fun scrapping again!

I've made a layout for the new Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo challenge. The challenge is to use splashes on your page. I used a photo of my two nieces because they sure know how to make a splash!

I just adore pastel colours lately. The background is made with Heidi Swapp Color Shine with extra acrylic paint splashed over the top. I used bits and pices from all sorts of collections to create my embellishments.

Are you going to 'splash' out and join in the challenge? you can find it here.

It's all about Family at More Than Words

It's time for the new challenge over at More Than Words! Woohoo! The challenge this month is to be influenced by the word 'Family' and to use some Numbers on your layout, canvas or art journal page.

Here's what I made:

My layout is about the fact that our kids have grown up and left home and now, after being a family of four for so long, we are once again a family of two. Of course, our kids will always be a huge part of our lives but there are usually just two of us at home now - plus the dog!

I hand cut the large title and added a bit of fussy cutting and stamping to the page. I actually made this one while I was travelling, using some papers that my lovely friend Valia gave me so I was pretty rapt to create this with such limited supplies.

I also added a tiny little number 2 in among the large title.

I sure hope you can join our challenge this month. You can find the details here.

I'm back and I'm scrapping!

Hello! I'm so excited to be back on my blog and scrapping again. For those of you that don't know, I've been away travelling for a while. I did manage to get a bit of scrapping done while I was away but it's soooooo good to be back in my scrap room again. Ah, the luxury of having all those goodies to scrap with!

I decided to start with an entry for Skrapky-wyzwaniowo, where the challenge was to use hexagons and I used the sketch from Stuck! Sketches.

I loved the sapphire, emerald and gold colours in the amazing mosaics I saw in Italy so I used these colours on my page and set them against a dark background to accent the richness of them. I thought the hexagons worked perfectly with the mosaics theme.

The create my hexagons, I first stamped hexagons onto cardstock then embossed them with white embossing powder. I then added Tinby Design Colour Crush and sprayed with water to create that gorgeous blending of colour. I cut out the shapes and added them around my photos and scattered them across the page.

To take the hexagon theme further, I also made some out of wire. I also wrapped wire around some gold corners that I made out of chipboard.

I wrapped wire around all my chipboard pieces which gave the page a great textural feel.

I cut the title from the same home-made hexagon paper and outlined the letters in gold.

There's not much time left if you want to join in these challenges!

Take a Walk with More Than Words

Helloooo! Welcome back to my blog.

It's Mini Challenge  time again at More Than Words. The word to use on your card, tag or ATC is 'Walk'. I chose to take a Walk on the Wild Side with my ATC!

I challenged myself to use up things from my scraps drawer. The background cardstock, the pinwheel and the die-cuts all came from there. I love using up old stash!

Here's the challenge board. I hope you can join us this month!

You can find more details on the challenge here.

Welcome back! The new challenge is up at More Than Words and it's a great one! The challenge is to be inspired by the word 'Outdoors' and to use Woodgrain in your layout, canvas or art journal page.

I have many photos taken Outdoors but this one was so funny I just had to use it. I was walking Outdoors when I saw this cat who was sitting on a balcony Outdoors. The expression on its face was hysterical!

Here's what I made:

I used a Woodgrain PL card behind the photo and the grumpy cat is scowling out from behind a Woodgrain balustrade.

Perfectly Delicate

Welcome back!

It's the start of a fresh new month so there's a fresh new challenge over at More Than Words. The challenge is to be inspired by the word Delicate and to use some Fabric in your layout, canvas or art journal page.

I made an art journal spread.

I recently took this photo of a butterfly and it wasn't until I looked closely at the photo that I realised the butterfly has one crooked wing. It could certainly fly ok though so that inspired to write the journaling.

A butterfly is one of the most delicate things I can think of and I tucked some fabric behind the photo. I made the background with Tinby Designs Colour Crush. I'm continually amazed with the variety of effects I can achieve with these.

Does the word Delicate inspire you to create something? Come on, give it a go! You can find the details here.

Getting Fearless at More Than Words

Hello again!

The new challenge is up at More Than Words and I hope you're feeling brave because the challenge is to be inspired by the word FEARLESS and to add some GRUNGE to your page!

Here's my interpretation:

I don't believe that anyone is truly fearless. I think we all have fears but the trick is to learn how to face them and deal with them.

I tore book paper and added some handles and paper from a brown paper bag to make backing for the photo. The background is made with Tinby Designs Colour Crush and some stamping and paint splatters - all ideal products for this sort of challenge.

I hope you can join in this month. Here's the challenge board:

Sing at More Than Words

Hi there!

Have you seen the new Mini Challenge over at More Than Words? The word to include on your card, tag or ATC is 'Sing'.

Here's what I made:

I made the background with Tinby Designs Colour Crush. It was so easy! The heart shape is a real leaf that I found while out walking. I just had to scrap with it!

I sure hope you can join us this month. You can find the challenge here.

It's All About Harmony at More Than Words.

Hello again!

There's a very 'harmonious" challenge over at More Than Words this month. The word to be inspired by is "Harmony" and the creative challenge is to use song lyrics on your page.

Here's what I made:

The word "Harmony" made me think of a bike ride that I did while on holidays. I'm not a big fan of bike riding so I was really thrilled when I found the ride to be really enjoyable. I felt very much in harmony with the bike and my beautiful surroundings. I used the lyrics from the Queen song "Bicycle Race". Not only are the words perfect for the page but Queen have some of the best harmonies in the world!

I used large circular elements on the page to reflect the image of bicycle wheels and I placed the letters in my title in an up and down way, reminiscent of pedals. The background, the title and the circles were made using Tinby Designs Colour Crush. I love what I can do with these!

I hope you can join us over at More Than Words this month. Here's the challenge board - what a stunning image!

Roses for Kraft Plus!

Welcome back to my blog! I've been MIA for a while cos I've been travelling. I've had so much fun but I've really missed my creative time.

Sometimes it's funny how creativity strikes. I bought some bread and it came in a paper bag. I immediately thought how cool it would look as a base for a Kraft+ project! I kept the bag and later happened to put a travel brochure on top of it. I noticed how awesome the red and sepia tones of the brochure worked with the kraft bag and I was so inspired to create with those colours!

This month's challenge at Kraft+ sure was a challenge for me though! It took me a while to work out how I was going to incorporate roses in three different ways.

Here's what I came up with:

The three ways I've used roses are:

  • the title is "The Adriatic Rose"
  • I've tucked a few real rose petals around the page
  • I made small white roses with serviettes
  • there are also roses on the lace background but I don't think that counts! Hehe.
Here's a close up of my journalling:

Here's the challenge over at Kraft+ this month. Why not give it a go? You can find the challenge here.

Art Journaling in Scrapbooking Memories Magazine

Hi there! I thought I'd share with you some more art journal pages I made for the series of articles I'm writing for Scrapbooking Memories magazine.

I used an image printed on transparency over some gorgeous Tinby Designs Colour Crush. I also used the Colour Crush to colour the title and the stars. And the background? I was actually working on the other side of the paper and hadn't cleaned up my mat properly. When I saw the colour had transferred to the back of my work I immediately turned my page over and started again using the blue as my background. Perfect!

More Colour Crush and some gorgeous Denim Tampons stamps on this one. Here's a close-up:

Sometimes it helps to express yourself when life deals you a rough hand.

Art Journaling - A Different Direction

Hello and welcome back to my little blog. I've been working a lot with art journaling lately. I find this is such an amazingly creative outlet. I'm writing a series of articles about this for Scrapbooking Memories magazine.

Here are some of the pages I've made for the magazine articles:

This one is made entirely with Tinby Designs Colour Crush and pen (plus some alphas). This is a great example of how you can create something when you're just playing.

This one also predominantly uses Colour Crush. I love those Colour Crush butterflies!

I know my work is usually very colour-driven but I also adore book text with black and white. I love how this turned out!

If you'd like to learn more about art journaling I hope you can pick up one of my articles in Scrapbooking Memories magazine!

It's all Black and White at More Than Words!

Hello and welcome to the April challenge at More Than Words! It might be April Fools Day but there's no joke about this fabulous challenge!

Firstly, here's what I made:

The ice-cream I was eating was the best one ever! It was from my favourite ice-cream shop where we go on holidays and they gave me an extra scoop this day. Check out the flavours below. Yum!

I converted my photo to black and white (cos there was a horrible bright green wall behind me!) then let the colours stay only on the ice-cream.

Hmmm, there's lots of black and white on there. Do you know what the challenge is yet?

Apart from the black and white, pink is the only other colour on the page. Have you worked the challenge out? Ok - here it is!

The challenge is to be influenced by the word 'Dream' and create in black, white and one other colour. Easy! You can find the challenge here.

I sure hope you can join us this month!
