I'm Guesting at ARTastic!

Hello and welcome back to my blog. I was asked by the very lovely Jane Howden at ARTastic to be the Guest Designer for this month. How exciting! Thanks Jane :)

Here's what I made:

The challenge this month is to be influenced by this stunning painting by Cathy McLelland and to use paint in our work.

As you can see, I was heavily influenced by the colours. I also used the birds and feathers influence in my title. My daughter and her bestie look nothing like each other but their personalities are so similar!

I used a soon-to-be-released produt called Colour Crush to recreate the bright, sprayed effect on the background of the painting. Colour Crush is my new fave product - more coming on this soon!

All the paint I used was white – I stencilled with it, used it behind some of my Colour Crush and I used a white paint pen on my chippie feathers.

The chippie is from The Dusty Attic. I adore the whole range of these stunning feather chippies!

I hope you can join in at ARTastic this month! You can find the challenge here.

Happy scrappin'!

More Than Words Mini Challenge

Hello and welcome back to my blog. The news today is that the new Mini Challenge at More Than Words has just been revealed!

Here's what I made for it. It's an Artist Trading Card:

I've really been enjoying making ATCs lately. An ATC only measures 3.5 x 2.5 inches - just enough to have a good play on!

I used Gelatos on the background then added some stamping then finished off with Dusty Attic flowers and chippies.

The challenge this month is to use the word 'Magic' somewhere on a card, tag or ATC. Here's the challenge board:

Are you going to give our challenge a go? Please check out our reveal post and an explanation of the challenge here. You only have one week to enter and you must load your entry onto the relevant post on our Facebook page. This challenge is designed to be quick and fun!

I sure hope you can join us.

Happy scrappin'!

Dusty in February

Hello! I'm back today sharing my new layout made for the February Dusty Attic mood board. Are you going to enter the mood board challenge this month? You could win an amazing $100 Dusty Attic voucher! You can find the challenge here. PLUS there will be a voucher awarded at the end of the year to the person who enters the most of our challenges! It's all happening at The Dusty Attic!

Here's my layout:

I used the stunning February mood board as my inspiration. Talk about a WOW mood board!

I took my inspiration from the shabby feel, the gorgeous muted blues and greys, the flowers and the swirls.

That large chippie flourish that I used is stunning! It's so easy to make an impact with such an eye-catching piece. I added some colour and some Tinby Designs Metallic Melts randomly for a shabby feel with a bit of bling.

I added some Dusty Roses and some Dusty Blooms. I love that Dusty Attic flowers come in packs of mixed sizes so you don't have to use multiple packs to make a project.

The Dusty Attic products I used are:

Floral Frame Set DA0576

Dusty in Bloom Cornsilk DA0806

Dusty Roses - assorted colours

7 Faves

My lovely friend Valia Katzaki nominated me for the 7 Faves in 7 Days challenge. I varied this a bit and have just put my 7 faves into one post.

I've taken them from the last year or so, although some of my faves are out for publication so I can't put them in here just yet. Here they are in no particular order. I hope you like them!

The February 'More Than Words' Challenge!

Hello there! Well our brand new challenge, 'More Than Words', has got off to a flying start! We are so thrilled with the quantity and incredible quality of entries we've had to our first ever challenge!

The second challenge has now been released. Here's what I made for it.

And here's the fabulous new More Than Words challenge board for February:

You have to use the word 'Wonderful' as your inspiration. Remember that we need to see how the word inspired you. You then need to make sure you add some sparkle to your project!

My three nieces came to stay with us recently. I don't get to see them anywhere near often enough so this was a really wonderful event for all of us. I just had to scrap about them! They are also simply wonderful girls!

To make my project shine I used Lindy's Magicals on the background then added gold paint through stencils and on my Dusty Attic chippies. I then added Tinby Designs Metallic Melts to the chippies for that super glamourous shine!

I'm head over heels in love with that chippie! It's from Dusty Attic and it's called Elegant Chain. You can find it here.

I love creating texture as well as sparkle with the Metallic Melts!

I sure hope you can join in the challenge this month! You can find all the details here.

Happy scrappin'!
