A Colourful 7 Dots Challenge

I fell in love with the new mood board over at 7 Dots Studio this month. It's full of pastel colours and gorgeous scenes. I was inspired by the colours of the mood board to create this layout using a photo I took last year.

I used the pinks, blues, greens and yellow-green from the moodboard, but made the colours a bit brighter to work with the bright pink flowers in my photo. I used the Verano Azul collection from 7 Dots to create this. If has such gorgeous colours.

To make the frame around the photo, I fussy cut one of the journalling cards from the collection and raised it up around the photo. I also fussy cut the title from another journaling card.

The background is a mix of sprays and paints and I've glammed up the waste from some Dusty Attic chipboard circles with paint and stamping.

I scattered mauve stars around the page which were punched from one of the Verana Azul papers. I'm not much of a mauve fan usually but I love this colour!

I took the photo of the window on the island of Cres in Croatia. We loved it there. The buildings were all painted in gorgeous pastel colours and windows with shutters like these were so beautiful!

The circles were made using the chippie waste piece as a stencil.

I hope you can join in the challenge this month. You can find the challenge here, and here's the gorgeous moodboard:

It's All About True Love

It's Mini Challenge time again at More Than Words! As February is tradtionally the month of love, the word that we want to see on your card, tag, ATC or postcard is 'True'.

Here's what I made:

I made this for a very special couple who are getting married. I wish I knew what colours the bridal party will be wearing as I could have co-ordinated the flower but the colours are always a surprise!

Here's the challenge board:

Getting My Challenges On!

Hello there! I've been having heaps of fun making a layout for a couple of challenges - CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration and Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo. I really enjoyed making this.

This is a photo I took of Kotor, a stunningly beautiful old town in Montenegro. We climbed up the steep hill behind the town and we could see right across the gorgeous bay. We met fantastic people there and have great memories of this place.

I have a bit of a thing at the moment about creating with small scraps of paper. I love the random effect this gives my work. I have layered my scraps up here with many bits and pieces - photo corners, puched and cut shapes, tabs, stickers and stitching.

At Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo, the challenge is to use masking tape. Here's what I did:

First I adhered my masking tape to a scrap of glossy paper. It has to be a paper that the tape will peel off.

I then punched along one edge of the paper with the tape on it.

Next I used a border stamp along the tape.

I then peeled the masking tape from the glossy paper and adhered it to my page. I layered it up with paper scraps and added some random stitching. I also added my journaling on torn strips of masking tape.

At CSI, I fell in love with the colour scheme. These colours are so me! I chose to use all five colours in my embellishments. I also used white gesso to stencil behind my photo and journaling.

For CSI, I also used a holiday photo and used something fringy (I'm not sure that fringy is a real word but I love it!) My fringy item is the water fountain - it reminds me of the hula skirt on the CSI image.

This is the first time I've entered a CSI challenge so I hope I've done it right! You can find the challenge details here.

It's certainly not the frst time I've entered a Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo challenge though. I love their fun and user-friendly challenges! You can find the current challenge here.

Happy scrappin'!

Forever in Love at More Than Words

Hello there!

The new challenge is up at More Than Words and it's very relevant for February. The challenge is to be inspired by the word 'Forever' and to use hearts on your layout, canvas or art journal page.

Here's what I came up with:

I taught a class to my local ladies recently and I was inspired to use the same technique to make the background and heart balloons on this page.

I added lots of stitching - both by hand and machine.

I tethered my balloons to a hand-made arrow and hung feathers from it as well. Underneath is a gorgeous swirl chippie from The Dusty Attic.

I found some dangly bling in my stash and added that to the bottom of the torn paper.

I hope you can join in the fun this month! You can find more details on the challenge here.

Happy scrappin'!

Getting My Abba On!

Hello!

A fabulous challenge has just been revealed at Kraft+ - the challenge is to create something that was inspired by Abba! Lol - I love this one!

Here's what I made:

The photo on this page isn't great but the memory is! We were with friends on a Greek island and Mamma Mia was playing at an outdoor theatre. Apparently this has been screening weekly here ever since the movie was made. We had free drinks at the start then settled in to watch the show. We bopped along and joined in the songs - well we girls did anyway. We had the most wonderful night!

I took photos of the movie and added them to my page. I love how it was subtitled in Greek!

I added a cool Dusty Attic chippie flourish and lots of bits and pieces to splash some colour around.

The thing that kept us laughing for ages was the poster advertising the show - it said it featured Meryl Strip! Ahhh, what a night!

I hope you can get your glittery flares on and enter the challenge this month. You can find the details here.
